Aidan ‘Hopeful’ Over ‘Being Human 3′
Aidan Turner has revealed that he is hopeful over a third series of Being Human.
In a recent chat with Digital Spy, the 26-year-old actor suggested that a new series could be commissioned – if the fans are behind it.
“Yeah – I’d love to shoot a third series, and I think the other guys would too,” he said. “We’ll just have to see how these things go.
“It’s all about ratings and reviews and they’re things that we can’t control. We’re all in for it but it’s whether we get the go-ahead. If the fans are behind us in this series like they were for the first, then it should happen.”
Turner also admitted that filming is currently under way for the show’s second series, which he described as “quite dark”.
Being Human
A year ago, we’d never even heard of Aidan Turner – now he’s all over the BBC. And if you’re missing him from Desperate Romantics, which ended on Tuesday, you can catch him here as his suburban vampire adventures continue.
Tonight he and werewolf George have decided that Annie, their live-in ghost (played by Lenora Crichlow), needs a kindred spirit. So they introduce her to another ghost called Gilbert, who’s still living in the 80s and listening to Echo And The Bunnymen on his Walkman.
Gilbert tells Annie she needs to understand why she’s still hanging around in this world. And with the day she would have got married looming, she decides to look after her fiancé Owen, who is still the love of her life, even though she’s dead.
In an episode marked by werewolf sex and vampire snuff movies, this is the one part of the storyline with a real, beating heart.
Don’t forget that episode 1.3 is on BBC1 tonight at 11.05pm. It says 10:35pm on 2 sites, but check both times to make sure ;)
Aidan Talks About Dark Vampire Role
According to Digital Spy, Turner, who also stars in ‘The Clinic’, said of his character: “I don’t know how much I’m actually allowed to say, but it gets quite dark for Mitchell – I think the whole second series is quite dark.”
“He tries to make amends for the mess that’s been left behind and a lot of angry vampires want his blood.”
“He has to go on and deal with that and that takes him to places that he doesn’t realise he’s got to go until he’s in them.”“And then he has to deal with those situations. It’s a heavy time for Mitchell.”
