Radio Times Interview

Do you worry about being typecast?
Nah, as I’m about to fly to New Zealand for The Hobbit [Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings prequel]. That’ll get me out of the typecasting pretty quickly. I’m to play Kili the dwarf, so it’s to be long beards and prosthetics from now on.

Does that mean you won’t be in the fourth series of Being Human?
I don’t really know yet. We’re shooting The Hobbit for a good year and a half – until midway through 2012 – but I think I get six weeks off, so we might work something out.

‘Being Human’ Star Praises Lacey

Jan 24 • by Vicki • No CommentsArticles & Interviews, Being Human

Aidan Turner has praised ex-EastEnders actress Lacey Turner for her work on the new series of Being Human.

Turner made her first appearance away from her role as Stacey Branning in the first episode of the BBC Three show’s third series last night.

“She’s awesome, she’s brilliant,” Turner, who plays vampire Mitchell, said. “It’s not enough credit to say she’s highly professional but that’s what she was. She’s such a lovely girl, sort of reserved and quite quiet and I think she’s amazing – she’s done some fabulous stuff.

“And she’s only ever really done EastEnders, so to come in and do it, she’s very fluid. Everyone enjoyed it and we were talking about it for weeks afterwards.”

He added: “The producers say her scenes look great and that the scenes in limbo look great.”

Lacey will return as Lia in the final episode.

Digital Spy Interview

Did you expect the train massacre to come back to haunt Mitchell in series three?
“I knew there’d be repercussions, because it’s such a big part of the story. But I didn’t know it would be so big! I didn’t know at the time, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have done it! It’s fun though. It’s a big story and it’s important for Mitchell. It’s one of the biggest [storylines] of this series.”

Since Russell, Lenora and Sinead have all appeared in Doctor Who, would you be interested in completing the set?
“I think if I said no, I’d be killed! If only for that reason, I think it’d be fun to do Doctor Who, yeah.”

What sort of role would you like to play?
“I’ve no idea, because I’ve never seen an episode!”

Aidan Confirms ‘Hobbit Boot Camp’

Jan 20 • by Vicki • No CommentsArticles & Interviews, The Hobbit

Aidan Turner has confirmed that he and other actors will be sent to “boot camp” to train for the upcoming adaptation of The Hobbit.

The Being Human star has been cast as Kili the Dwarf in Peter Jackson’s long-awaited return to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Turner told Metro: “We’re all off to Hobbit boot camp. I’m not sure what it entails but I think it lasts a few weeks and gets us all fit for filming.”

Asked about Jackson’s adaptation of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, he added: “I saw them at the cinema. It’s not my favourite genre but they are all masterpieces. I’m a huge fan.”

Regarding how starring in the movie might change his life and career, Turner said: “I don’t speculate too much about the future. That’s the thing about this job – it’s so fickle.

“You take the jobs, you read the scripts and, if something interests you and you like the people who are working on it, you go for it. If not, you take a break. I could be back in Ireland, Britain or America afterwards. It’s so variable but very exciting.”
